Family is Forever
This Polaroid picture was taken
before you hissed
I don’t love you anymore.
This was our
“family picture”.
This group of friends was
more than family actually.
All six of us
huddled on his bed.
Various limbs
draped over each other;
we all had different expressions.
Willie was on the far left.
Much like Christian, smoke poured
out of his mouth.
Like two fluffy clouds
filled with nicotine.
Then there’s Kyle.
Wearing my black and
red snowboarding jacket.
Never smiling, but deep down
we knew you were happy.
The only other girl
was Libby.
She stood in the back with a
surprised look and head tilted on
her right shoulder.
Brown hair roaring like a
waterfall on her shoulders.
Then
there's us, in the eye of the storm.
My eyes seem
to be captured by yours.
Like a prisoner
behind the bars of
your deep blue
irises.
I miss this,
how things were back then.
The memories make
my heart
yearn for the people
who I haven't seen in two months.
The people who
meant the most to me
